In Need Of A Thorough Cleansing - Clarify!

Clarifying shampoo is a product used to cleanse your hair by removing the build-up of hair products that can remain in your hair, even after a regular wash.  It will help your hair retain moisture and leaves your hair feeling nice and soft.  This is a great treatment for your hair!

Make Your Own Apple Clarifier

Using Apple Cider Vinegar makes your hair healthy and shiny, which also frees your hair from build-up.  Vinegar is slightly acidic and rinsing with it helps restore the balance of the scalp's pH to its natural state.

          Follow the ingredients below:
  • 1 to 2 capfuls of Apple Cider Vinegar.
  • 1 cup of water.
  • 3 drops of essential oil (peppermint or rosemary).
Note: If you have long hair you may need to double these measures.

How Often Should You Clarify?

If you use a lot of hair product and have hard water, the average person should clarify their hair 1-2 times per month.  If your hair is exposed to chemicals from the pool, you may need to clarify more often than others.  Using a clarifying shampoo is really no different than using any other shampoo, the only thing is that you do not use as much with each washing and you do not use it everyday.

How Do You Use Clarifying Shampoo?

      • With about a nickle-quarter amount of clarifying shampoo work it into your scalp only with a light massage for about 60 seconds.  Depending on the amount of oils on your hair and build-up, the shampoo may not lather very much, but that is fine.
      • With the same amount of clarifying shampoo work it through your hair. You should see lots of suds.   Letting the shampoo sit for  a minute  will help release the hair product build-up, rinse well.
      • The clarifying shampoo does not have moisturizer like your regular shampoo, so you may need to use a bit more conditioner than usual.

Hope your hair feels lighter and  cleaner... Happy Hair Cleansing!!

Going Natirèl - Black Hair Care Tips!

When I started my hair journey there was a lot I needed to know, here are a few tips that helped me:

            Moisturize

Dry hair breaks.... Add moisture daily!
            • Use a treatment to your hair before washing; it adds and seals moisture in your hair. It also keeps hair from drying when washing with shampoos'.
            • A deep condition moisturizer helps repair hair, also eliminating hair breakage.
            •  Ingredients to avoid that will leave hair dry:
                                                                -Petrolatum
                                                                -Sodium laurel sulfate
                                                                -Mineral oil
            • Always moisturize your hair and ends.

Avoiding the use of heating tools

Minimize the usage of heating tools to prevent breakage, especially if it's kinky!

            • If you're going to use a heating tool, apply a leave in conditioner or a heat protecting serum.
            • Try to air dry your hair rather than blow drying it.
            • When drying your hair, if you use a towel lightly pat or wrap a towel around your head. Never rub your hair with a towel, it will cause hair breakage and fizz.

            Protecting your hair

Help your hair grow by protecting it!
            • Hairstyles that doesn't brush up against your clothes, protects your hair. Protective styles includes:
                                                                  -Buns
                                                                  -Twists
                                                                  -Cornrows
                                                                  -Up-do's
            • Remember try not to pull hair to tight.
            • Wearing a satan/silk scarf when sleeping helps protect the ends of your hair.
            • Always comb your hair when wet and with conditioner. If your combing your hair when it is dry, try finger combing instead of combing it. This will reduce hair breakage.

I hope these tips help you with your journey, feel free to comment or leave tips that is helping you!
